In its September 2026 announcement, Odoo states that the Custom plan rate increases by 20%, while Standard and Education plan pricing stays unchanged. That is an announced plan change, not a guaranteed 20% increase on every existing invoice. Ask for your applicable renewal quote and employee classification before comparing alternatives.

What changed in the Odoo 20 pricing conversation
At review on 28 September 2026, Odoo’s published pricing describes Light Users for limited access and employee records without login access. Its subscription agreement also defines qualifying active employee records within that category. The impact on an existing customer depends on the signed agreement, version, renewal and written quote. A budget model, not a promised saving
Use your quoted annual full-user and Light User rates, with eligible headcounts that avoid counting the same person twice. Add services, hosting and modules. For Community, add implementation or migration plus the full operating and maintenance budget; the Community core does not carry Enterprise seat charges. Over three years, compare both complete totals and include a contingency for replacement features. The result may favour either edition.

Bring an invoice and a real role inventory
The review needs the current quotation or agreement, renewal date, edition, hosting arrangement and a list of roles. Include people who use operational apps, self-service and external portals rather than treating every employee identically. The applicable contract determines which categories are chargeable; public pricing alone cannot settle a specific invoice.
Compare options over the same agreed period and include one-time conversion work, feature replacements and maintenance. Record assumptions and supplier dependencies beside the figures. A recommendation should explain what changes operationally as well as what changes on the renewal invoice.

Does every employee now cost the full Odoo user price?
No. Odoo distinguishes full users and Light Users. Certain employee records without logins are covered by its current definitions. Confirm the applicable category and rate for your contract and avoid double counting.
Will Community definitely reduce our total bill?
No guaranteed percentage applies. It can remove Enterprise core seat subscriptions, but replacement features, migration and long-term maintenance may offset the saving. We compare the complete scope.
