Engineering a maintenance system around the plant

Implemented reference build

For an industrial manufacturer, we built an Odoo 17 maintenance and procurement suite covering equipment hierarchies, preventive scheduling, work-order execution, costing and purchasing controls. The implemented reference environment keeps the delivery demonstrable without presenting it as a live plant rollout.

The challenge

Plant maintenance needs more than a repair ticket. A work order must carry the asset, checklist, people, materials, tools and outsourced work; preventive maintenance must respond to dates and meters; and procurement needs approvals, quality checks and shipment follow-up around the same operating process.

Our approach

We delivered eight custom modules on top of Odoo’s maintenance, purchasing, stock and project foundations. The maintenance engine supports calendar, running-hours and threshold-based triggers, with duplicate-generation guards. Work-order detail and procurement governance share one application environment.

What we built

Schedule preventive work from the right signal

Built calendar scheduling, meter-based triggers, checklist rotation, annual planning and manpower forecasting, with guards against repeated generation of the same work.

Capture the components of maintenance cost

Work orders carry assignees, job plans, labour, material issues, tools and subcontracting lines. Reliability views report downtime and repair information from recorded work.

Control procurement and receiving

Added approval matrices, order amendments, procurement tracking, expediting, gate entries and vendor scorecards, alongside warehouse roles and cycle-count structures.

What the implementation enables

The result is an implemented engineering reference for a connected maintenance and procurement lifecycle. It demonstrates the scheduling and control logic with configured equipment and schedules. It does not establish an improvement in uptime, maintenance cost or plant productivity.

Delivery status & scope

Built and checked in a historical reference environment. These maintenance modules are not installed in the current production target; scheduled jobs in the reference are disabled. Equipment and schedule counts describe that reference only.
