Salon no-shows: what actually reduces them
A no-show is not a lost appointment. It is a lost hour of a stylist who was paid for it, and those hours are the whole margin.

Reminders are about timing, not frequency
A reminder a week ahead is filed and forgotten. One close enough to the appointment that the client can still act on it — reschedule rather than simply not turn up — converts a no-show into a moved booking, which keeps the slot recoverable.
Deposits, applied selectively
Asking every client for a deposit costs goodwill on a fifteen-minute service. Applying it to long or high-value appointments, or to clients with a history of not attending, targets the cost where the exposure actually is. That requires the system to know both the service value and the client history.
A waiting list that runs itself
The slot is only lost if nobody fills it. A waiting list that notifies the next suitable client when a cancellation happens turns a gap into a booking without anyone making calls during a busy shift.
